Joe Delsanter began his public service in 2003 when chosen to represent Brunswick’s Ward 3. In November 2003 Joe was the first ever write-in candidate to win an election in Medina County and earned the highest votes of all ward races. Mr. Delsanter’s current term began in January 2008. Recognized for his leadership on Council Joe was unanimously elected as Vice-Mayor of Brunswick.
A resident of Medina County for 19 years and Brunswick since 1994, Joe has given his time to the community. He has coached Brunswick Youth Soccer and Baseball. He helps families in need through Brunswick Eagles Aerie 3505 Christmas Basket Day. A member of St. Ambrose Parish he volunteered at Bingo and St. Ambrose Booster fund raising events. He and his wife Beth ministered couples preparing for marriage as Pre-Cana Team members for 9 years.
As a leader Mr. Delsanter continues to tender his abilities such as serving on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Medina County and is a founding member of Project Access and Voter Education, PAVE which educates disabled citizen’s voter accessibility. Joe is a 2007 Graduate of Leadership Medina County. He also graduated from the two year Leadership Training Institute of the Ohio Municipal League and is delegate/member of the National League of Cities. He was responsible for bringing Brunswick’s Emergency Preparedness Program to the attention of the National League which the city presented at the NLC Leadership Training Institute in Washington D.C.
In addition to leading Council, Joe has served on all seven Council Committees. He was Chairman of Planning and Zoning, Finance and Building and Building Code Committees. Currently he is Chairman of the Parks, Recreation and Historical Committee.
Joe attended Charles F. Brush High in Lyndhurst, Ohio; Lakeland Community College of Kirtland, Ohio and Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. His studies included both Architecture and Business Management. Always focused on business Joe was a partner in an international transportation firm starting as a teenager. At 34 he became Vice-President of Sales for a publicly owned truckload carrier with $40 million in sales. Today Joe owns his own Marketing Firm working with the auto service industry and in part helps schools and non-profits raise funds.
Joe Delsanter believes family, homes and education are the currency of our community. “My vision is to surround them with business, consumer and city services that foster more than just stability to our citizens. Continue to preserve Brunswick’s quality of life and to bring into the community the growth and ideas that protect the value of our city.”
Councilman Delsanter’s mission is to serve the people of Ward 3 and citizens of Brunswick, to be proactive as well as respond when a need arises. Endeavor to meet or exceed their expectations. Be honest, trustworthy and faithful to his family, constituents, city and the Oath of Office.
Joe met his wife Beth in Brunswick they have 3 children Chris, Allison and Shannon. They reside at 3840 Magnolia Drive in one of America’s best places to raise a family.
