Patricia Hanek is one of three At-Large Council representatives. She was elected to this position in November, 2009.
Patricia has over twenty-five years of public service experience. She was employed as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration for over twenty-two years. As a claims representative, Mrs. Hanek provided direct personal service to the public. She was responsible for interviewing claimants and adjudicating claims for retirement, survivor and disability benefits. She also has experience working as a grant administrator and a Medicaid supervisor.
Mrs. Hanek has been a resident of Brunswick since January, 1989. She grew up in North Royalton, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Cleveland State University and has taken postgraduate courses in Gerontology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
She is active in the community and is involved in the Brunswick Area Historical Society, Brunswick Optimist Club, Brunswick Democrat Club, and Brunswick Art Works. She has also served as an alternate representative for the city of Brunswick to the Medina County Council of Aging as well as been a volunteer tutor for Project Learn. She was the Medina County coordinator for Congresswoman Betty Sutton’s 2008 re-election campaign. She was the chairwoman for the 2006 Congressional candidate forum held in Brunswick.
Patricia has been married to her husband, John, for over twenty-nine years. They have three sons. Nicholas, William and Joel.
