Professional coaches from Jump Start Sports will run this instructional and recreational basketball program for children in kindergarten and 1st grade. Players are taught the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, positioning, defense and rebouncing, and then apply what they have learned in fun, non-competitive games. Parents are welcome to assist in the coaching, but classes will be run by Jump Start Sports instructors. Players will be assigned to teams and each session will include a game as well as instruction. Instruction is held Saturday afternoons, from October 9th through November 13th, from 2:30-3:30 pm or 3:30-4:30 pm, at the Brunswick Rec Center, 2627 Pearl Rd. This is a basketball program for boys and girls in the 2nd & 3rd grade (as of Sept. 10). Teams are selected by a blind draft. Therefore, no two participants will be permitted to sign up together in order to play on the same team. (Only exception: household family members may be on the same team.) Practices will be held one evening Tuesday through Thursday for one hour. Times to be determined. Games will be held at the Brunswick Recreation Center. Each team will play a 6-game schedule. Games will be played on Saturdays beginning October 9th. Times to be determined. Volunteer coaches are needed for this program.
