US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force

Police

Eight Brunswick Police officers have been sworn in as Special Deputy US Marshals for the purpose of joining the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. The task force is a partnership between the US Marshals Service and local law enforcement agencies to track down and arrest fugitives with active felony warrants. With the help of resources that are not available to local police departments, the Marshals Service assists in serving Brunswick felony arrest warrants. In return, we assist the other members of the task force with their warrants.

In the event of a high-profile crime in Brunswick, as a member of the task force we will now have a large pool of experienced law enforcement officers available to help us do an immediate search for any dangerous suspects while they are still on the loose and a danger to the community.

The Brunswick officers assigned to the task force consist of two detectives and six members of the SWAT Team. The detectives are experienced in investigating and tracking down felony suspects, while the SWAT members bring the tactical training and experience that is desirable when confronting fugitives from justice.

In 2012 a Brunswick officer was named as the Task Force Officer of the Year for the Lorain County Division.
